ADHD and neurodivergent students in higher education.
Hello, I’m Kieran Clarke, Lead Specialist Tutor and Mentor at Calm. Clear. Confident. Specialist Support.
I am a specialist study skills tutor and mentor with over 13 years’ experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, autism and ADHD. I have also worked as a university lecturer across three academic disciplines, and I am currently completing a PhD.

What our Students say?
Kieran has been my study skills mentor for over a year now and the difference it’s had having weekly sessions has really improved my experience of university. During our sessions I have felt supported as we work through my university coursework. His availability and work ethic has really shown how willing he is to support his students. Since Kieran and I have had regular sessions, I have felt when university is getting stressful or I have lots of work to plan and write, Kieran is really good with organising, planning and helping ensure I focus on what is important.

Working with Keiran this year has been amazing, as they genuinely helped build my confidence both academically and personally. Whenever things got tough, it was so reassuring to know I had someone to turn to who would listen without judgment. Their support with organizing coursework and tackling assignments made a massive difference in how I managed my university workload. Keiran is incredibly approachable and truly tailors their support, so I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Freddie
I cannot thank Kieran enough for his mentorship through out my BA Top-Up Degree. As someone who is Autistic, Dyslexic with ADHD and CPTSD, I found he was able to create a safe space for me to develop my academic skills. Every session was supported by his calm, confident, and clear approach to problem-solving and achieving the grades I needed. Thanks to his unique ability to break down complex tasks into manageable steps without judgment, my assignment grades jumped from 55% to 78%. Because of his support, I feel much more in control of my studies and truly confident in my own abilities.

We provide Specialist Mentoring and Specialist Study Skills Support for higher education students. Support can include organisation, managing deadlines, assignment planning, academic reading and writing, executive functioning, confidence, routines and managing overwhelm.
Our support is designed for higher education students, including autistic students, students with ADHD and other neurodivergent students. Each session is adapted around the individual student’s needs, strengths and goals.
Sessions are calm, practical and student-led. We begin by discussing what is currently happening, identify the main priority and break it into manageable steps. The student leaves with a clearer plan and practical strategies they can use independently.
Specialist Mentoring focuses mainly on managing university life, wellbeing, routines, confidence, organisation and reducing overwhelm.
Specialist Study Skills Support focuses more directly on academic work, including planning assignments, academic reading, writing, research, revision and time management.
Some students receive both types of support.
Yes. Online support is available across England. Face-to-face sessions may be available across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, depending on location and availability. Flexible session times can also be arranged around students’ needs.
Students, parents, needs assessors and university teams can contact us by email or telephone. We will explain the next steps, answer any questions and discuss the most appropriate type of support.
